Everest Base Camp
Nature-treks.com organized the Gokyo Valley and Everest Base Camp Adventure, the ultimate adventure in Nepal, from November 3 to 19, 2009 for a group of 6 English people. The main highlights of this ultimate adventure trip were: the visit to the base camp of the highest mountain on Earth, four peaks over eight thousand meters (Everest, Cho Oyo, Lhotse and Makalu), Gokyo Ri: the amazing view point of Gokyo valley, the high pass Chola, Kalapathar (5545m), Khumbu Icefall, the most spectacular mountain of this area: Ama Dablam along with views of other Himalayan ranges and the age-old monasteries of Thyangboche and Khumjung.

Gokyo Valley
The 21 days trip started with a sightseeing tour and hikes before the trekkers flew to Lukla. The scenic flight was followed by an easy hike to Phakdingma (2600 m). After entering the Sagarmatha national park at Monjo, the steep ascent lead to the famous Namche Bazaar. En route, the trekkers enjoyed the sights and sounds of birds like White-browed Fulveta and the Black-faced Laughing thrushes. A day at Namche Bazaar was followed by a steep ascent to Shyangboche that lead to Dole (4100 m). After spending a day each in Machhermo (4400 m), Gokyo (4790 m), Gokyo Ri (5360 m), Thangna (4680 m), Jongla (4800 m) and Labuche (4900m), they reached Gorakshep and continued on to the Everest Base Camp (5200 m). The trekkers returned to Gorakshep to spend the night. An early morning hike up to Kalapathar (5545 m) on the 14th day ensured amazing sunrise views. Kalapathar is the southern ridge of Mt. Pumori (7200m) and the view of Mount Everest is closest from Kalapathar which is very awe-inspiring. The trekkers then retraced their steps via Dugla to Dingboche (4400 m). Trekking to Chhukung valley was the plan for the next day that brought the trekkers closer to Imja Tse, a popular trekking peak. The trekkers reached Pangboche and Thyangboche on the 16th day and returned to Namche Bazaar where they spent the night in a lodge. The adventurous and remarkable trek came to an end with a trek to Lukla and then a flight back to Kathmandu. The trekkers enjoyed a free day in Kathmandu before flying off to London. This was undoubtedly the experience of a life time!
