A Team Building program was organized for GIZ Team on May 20, 2011 at GIZ Building. A total of 300 participants participated in the program that aimed at improving trust, coordination, support and positive thinking among the participants. Additionally, increasing a sense of responsibility among the staff was also a major objective of the day-long program.

Various team building games and initiatives were included in the program in which the participants showed a lot of enthusiasm and participated actively. Figure of eight, T-otherside, don’t lose your marble, titanic boat, magic stick and magic carpet were some of the games and initiatives that were included in the program. During an interaction session at the end of the program, the participants said that the team building program was very effective as it helped them to further understand the importance of team work and to appreciate the efforts of their team members. They also said that the various lessons learnt during the course of the day will be applied in their workplace.
The event came to the end after a collective debriefing and knowledge sharing, hand out awards and vote of thanks. Mr. Megh Ale, Mr. Sanjiv Thakuri and Mr. Anil Chitrakar facilitated the event.


Buddha Jayanti or Buddha Purnima is marked as the most important day, commemorating the three most significant events in the life of Gautama Buddha that occurred on the same day. His birth, enlightenment and death (nirvana), all happened on a full moon night in April/May.
Gautam Buddha was born in Lumbini in the central plains of Nepal some 2500 years ago and is also considered as the ninth avatar (incarnation) of the Hindu god Vishnu. Thus, this makes the day – called Buddha Purnima Festival or Buddha Jayanti Festival- all the more sacred for Buddhists and Hindus.
Borderlands Group also organized a program to mark Buddha Jayanti on May 17- 18, 2011 at the Borderlands Eco Adventure Resort, with the motto of peace and prosperity. Around 44 participants including guests and media personnel were at the Resort to observe the festival. The peaceful ambience at the riverside resort, peaceful chatting by the Monks and soothing music by Kutumba, the famous Nepali Folk musical group were the main highlights of the program.





The Borderlands PDP organized a three day-long Team Building Program for the staff of Subisu Cablenet on 15 – 17 May 2011 at Borderland Resort, Bhotekoshi. There were 29 participants from Subisu Cablenet and 2 participants from Direction Nepal. The program covered different sessions like brainstorming, icebreaking, creating the value, teambuilding, strategic planning, visioning and celebrating success. Besides this various edifying games and initiatives were used during the course of the program.

Upon arrival at the resort the participants were welcomed and briefed on safety & resort’s facilities. Next day the program began with some Ice breaker activities followed by some exciting problem solving initiatives which were performed in 3 separate groups. All team activities elicit learning, merging together, formulating strategies and visioning for a collective future. The last day was a real team bonding test when the team members went rafting on the Bhote Koshi River. The participants were encouraged to steer the raft through some rapids enabling them to understand each other better. Before the Team Building Program came to an end, there was a collective debriefing during which the participants talked about what learnings they got from the program and how it would be applicable in the work place.
All members of Subisu team were highly enthusiastic and thoroughly enjoyed the activities and the learning drawn from them.



The Borderlands PDP organized a day long Team Building Program for NCELL on May 8, 2011 at Godavari Village Resort. Sixty (60) participants from the RNO Unit; enthusiastically participated in the day event. The main objectives of the program were to further enhance the team work skills among the participants. The program was fun filled and educational as all the games and initiatives were focused on experiential learning. The activities were designed to improving various skills of the participants namely: effective communication, team work, trust, unity, leadership, motivation, co-operation, coordination and planning skills among the participants. Visioning exercise also included in the program.
The program started with the morning coffee followed by the course briefing and ice breaker activities, the event included exciting problem solving initiatives and some Indoor presentation which were performed in 3 sub groups.
The participants said that the program was a fun-filled event and it also focused on experiential learning. They further said that they understood each other better and also felt that the team building was successful in enhancing their trust among each other, team work, leadership skills, planning and implementation and coordination among other things.
The event came to the end after a collective debriefing and knowledge sharing, hand out certificate and group photo. Mr. Anil Chitrakar, Mr. Sanjiv Thakuri and Mr. Megh Ale facilitated the event.
