Mero Mobile - Ccorporate Retreat

A Staff Retreat was organized on September 18, 2009 for the employees of Mero Mobile to celebrate Mero Mobile’s 4th anniversary. The event was organized by the Borderlands PDP and was held at Gallaudi, Trishuli.

The event comprised of a lot of fun activities in addition to some team building games and initiatives which the participants enjoyed immensely. The main highlight of the day-long event was rafting in which more than half the Mero Mobile’s staff participated. Bingo, music, dance and other games were also incorporated to ensure that the participants had a fun time. A couple of icebreaker activities were also included in the event.

Unleash yourself @ Trishuli River

The Borderlands PDP organized a 4-days excursion for grade four students of Malpi International School from September 9-12, 2009. A total of 30 students and 4 teachers participated in the program that was organized at the Borderlands Eco Adventure Resort and also included overnight camping at Gati village.  Abseiling, rock climbing, talent show and hiking were some of the highlights of the program. The main aim of the excursion was to introduce the students to the concept of ‘outdoor activities’ and to prepare them for more advanced courses at the Borderlands Eco Adventure Resort in the future. The course focused on helping each other, building trust, developing self-confidence, broadening the student’s comfort zones and enhancing experimental learning.

Similarly, a 4-days Borderlands Trek was organized for grade six students of Malpi International School. The program, organized from September 13-16, 2009, focused on geographical, ecological and geological studies including rock identification, river studies , field sketching, mapping and basic surveying, flora and fauna identification, route-finding and navigation including map and compass use among other things. In addition to building self-confidence and developing comfort zones, the program also included hiking and camping at the Dugunagadi Fortress and Listi. There were a total of 42 students and 5 teachers.

An Office Retreat Program/ Team Building Event was organized by the Borderlands PDP for the staffs of United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (UN-OHCHR) from September 14-15, 2009 at the Gokarna Forest Resort. The two-day long program comprised

of various icebreaking activities and trust exercises in addition to team building activities and saw participation from more than 100 participants.
The Team Building program was a part of UN-OHCHR’s staff retreat and was designed to be fun-filled and enjoyable interspersed with learning opportunities and growth oriented games and initiatives which the participants availed to the fullest extent. Greater enthusiasm, improvement in communication, trust and leadership skills was seen by the end of the program. The division of the participants into sub-groups during the program further assisted them in enhancing their verbal and non-verbal communication, planning, leadership, and coordination skills. The program also assisted the participants to better know their colleagues who work in the field offices in Nepal.

Overall, the program was successful as the participants felt rejuvenated and were very enthusiastic about the whole event. They also said that the games and initiatives will assist them to efficiently work together to achieve their organizational objectives.
