Borderlands Nepal participated in the inaugural of the annual Bagmati River Festival held at holy site of Pashupatinath temple. This annual festival organized by NRCT, Nepal River Conservation Trust is the festival of the 21st century aimed at the preservation, increasing awareness and support for the Bagmati River.

Bagmati River is sacred river to all religions and has acted as a cohesive force for the community of Kathmandu valley helping to sustain and support its inhabitants. The influx of the increased population coupled with drastic changes in climate has turned this sacred river into nothing more than a drain. It is time for all of us to come forward to save this river, it’s our responsibility to make sure that this river does not become a part of history lesson taught to our future generation.

As an effort to contribute back to our communities, Borderlands has been actively involved in support and organizing of this annual festival since its inception in 2001. We realize the importance of the role that the rivers play in our society and its cultural value. We like to appeal to all concerned to join hands for this noble cause in order to prevent further environmental damage and loss of natural habitat along the Bagmati River.

Dashain being the most awaited and anticipated festival of all year was celebrated at the Borderlands Corporate office in presence of all its employees. The festival was marked with the worship of Durga, Goddess of power. It is believed that Rama, the human incarnation of Hindu God Bishnu, worshipped goddess Durga for nine days for power and defeated the demon king, Ravan on tenth day. These Nine days are considered auspicious and celebrated with joy and source of power. In those nine days, nine different goddesses are worshiped as different forms of Durga. It is a strong belief among Nepalese that source of power is the goddess, the women. Therefore, it is the celebration to respect women for empowering the men.

The seventh day of the occasion was marked with special PUJA at the office. The celebration was initiated by Megh Ale, Founder Director of the Company. People bring in different plants and flowers into their houses on this day called ‘PhulPati’ which gave the same name to the day. These plants are kept in the sacred place and worshipped for three more days.  The celebration is not just worshipping goddesses; it worships the nature as well. Therefore, Dashain is the festival of celebrating the power of life in the form of women and nature.  Nepal Army marks this day with special firings at Tudikhel.

It was a great chance to bring all the employees together in one single platform irrespective of their designation giving them the feeling that we all are together and is a family. The celebration included the directors, managers and all other staffs and guides. It was an ideal occasion to show their passion and respect for their profession as well. All of them pay their respect for a prosperous year and better business. Everyone showed their commitment for better operation and customer experience.

The celebration was an opportunity to relax and enjoy each other’s company at Borderlands Office brainstorming for better operations and customer satisfaction.

We wish a prosperous and happy Dashain to all.

Buddha Jayanti or Buddha Purnima is marked as the most important day, commemorating the three most significant events in the life of Gautama Buddha that occurred on the same day. His birth, enlightenment and death (nirvana), all happened on a full moon night in April/May.

Gautam Buddha was born in Lumbini in the central plains of Nepal some 2500 years ago and is also considered as the ninth avatar (incarnation) of the Hindu god Vishnu. Thus, this makes the day – called Buddha Purnima Festival or Buddha Jayanti Festival- all the more sacred for Buddhists and Hindus.

Borderlands Group also organized a program to mark Buddha Jayanti on May 17- 18, 2011 at the Borderlands Eco Adventure Resort, with the motto of peace and prosperity. Around 44 participants including guests and media personnel were at the Resort to observe the festival. The peaceful ambience at the riverside resort, peaceful chatting by the Monks and soothing music by Kutumba, the famous Nepali Folk musical group were the main highlights of the program.
