Borderlands PDP conducted an indoor session on team building program based on experiential learning theme during the “2013 Consultative Workshop with KOICA Partner Organization” held on 29th November 2013 at Hotel Soaltee Crown Plaza. The main aim of the program is to enhance volunteer program by sharing while the session class was focussed on trust and communication.
Borderlands’s facilitator encouraged entire 120 participants with an energizer followed by a short course briefing at beginning of the program. Meanwhile participants were divided into four groups to take part in a Win/Win Flower, an interesting team building activity. There was also a short interaction on mission statement of KOICA “Happiness for all, with Global KOICA”
The overall session highlighted the power of experiential learning, attitude, balancing the learning zone and developing the win/win strategy. At the end there was a final debriefing to draw some key learning point, to internalize their experience and perform as a better team.
The Borderlands PDP organized a Management Retreat for NCELL staff on 28-29th Nov, 2013 at Dhulikhel Mountain Resort, Kathmandu Nepal. Starting the day with a good drive to the resort, tone setting activities like Zig- Zag and retrieval were conducted focusing on time management, strategy development and communication skills. Following these, the participants were involved in Treasure Hunt activity providing them the opportunity for first hand information which further will help them in preparation of long term strategy development. Participants showed a good enthusiasm, interest and participation in the activity. Human Bingo activity made the evening interesting after their Workshop.
The second day workshop had other participants joining for the day which continued until 6 pm. The program was successful in achieving the objectives set by the Ncell management.
Borderlands PDP organized a Leadership Development Program (LDP) for team Freiberg, Delft, Gati and Namaste Nepal from November 2-3, 2013. The event was organized so that 20 students from Freiberg and 10 local students from the nearby villages (Dadakateri, Gati and Sakhuwa) could jointly participate in the Leadership Development Program. The event included ice breaking and trust fall exercises and other team building activities and initiatives that emphasized on improving communication, leadership, trust, co-ordination, team building among other skills. After the leadership Development Program ended, the Freiberg students started hike to Gati Village and Danda Katteri. Overall the program was a huge success as the participants felt that the program improved their sense of bonding and the Freiberg students also got the chance to see the rural lifestyle and got the opportunity to do some social work.
Borderlands PDP conducted a 3 days long Team Building Program for the HELVETAS Swiss Intercooperation Nepal on 23rd to 25th October 2013 at Borderlands Eco Adventure Resort. A team of 18 participants took part in the event which mainly focused on improving team bonding and understanding each other.
The main objective of the program was to improve the communication, leadership, trust, planning, coordination and team work among the participants so that they can utilize the learnings in the workplace and have an effective team for organizational achievement. The program included outdoor and indoor sessions to empower the participants in effective communication and trust building. The adventure including rafting and low rope course brought the participants closer fostering trust and teamwork while the problem solving activities encouraged a decisive response to anticipated, unanticipated challenges and to identify good behaviors of each individual as well as areas of improvements to be an excellent team player. The internal session with presentations supplemented to strategies and various approach necessary to fulfill the team objective in line with building an ideal team.
The program was considered to be a good experience for the HELVETAS Nepal team. Huge amount of progress was observed in different elements and skills, like working as a team, building trust, improving leadership quality, self awareness, tolerance for adversity, self confidence communication etc. The feedback of the participants was awesome.
The three-day long retreat cum team building event was conducted for 19 staffs of International Center for Academics (ICA) on 6-8 October 2013 at Borderlands Eco Adventure Resort. The main theme of the program was the team building and feeling ownership.
Series of ice breaker activities, trust activities and team building activities and initiatives were applied during the event including a visioning indoor session. The entire program was designed to be fun-filled and enjoyable interspersed with learning opportunities and growth oriented activities which the participants availed to the fullest extent.
Before the Team Building Program came to an end, there was a collective debriefing during which the participants talked about what learnings they got from the program and how it would be applicable in the work place. Participants expressed that the event was wonderful as well as useful. It reportedly filled them with new energy, enthusiasm and equipped them with practical tools for day-to-day work life.
A successful two days Team Building Program was organized by the Borderlands PDP for Asian Development Bank on October 2nd & 3rd, 2013 at the Borderlands Resort. There were 26 participants who actively took part in the event which mainly focused on improving the communication, leadership, trust, planning, coordination and teamwork among the participants so that they can utilize the learning in their workplace and work efficiently as a team to achieve their organizational objectives. The program highlighted on the certain areas like motivation, team work, communication, self reflection and experiential learning. With the theme of experiential learning the participants were engaged physically, intellectually and emotionally by helping on broadening their horizon. Borderlands carried out the program with whole lot element of fun and firsthand knowledge.
Borderlands PDP organized an outdoor retreat program for ICIMOD- Geospatial Team of 17 participants on 1 & 2 at Hattiban Resort. The program was mainly focused on working together as effective, efficient and harmonious teams, building trust, and support mechanisms, delegating jobs, respect to each other, communicating more effectively, strategic planning and to have fun and good time.
The program started with an introduction of the program and way to getting our form zone followed by a blind fold walk. Setting expectations, pair up introduction, defining individual values in row egg, program lead to the series of trust building activities. Next day program began with some energetic icebreakers and meanwhile participants divided into two team to take part in team building activities. The program was wrap upped with the team mascot and certificate distribution with acknowledgements.
Participants expressed that the team building program ran for their team was truly fantastic. The feedback from all participants has been excellent.
A successful one day staff retreat was organized by the Borderlands PDP for NCELL Customer Relations team at Gokarna Forest Resort on 28th September 2013. There were 16 participants who actively took part in the event which mainly focused on improving the communication, leadership, balancing the professional and personal life, delivering services to the customers, trust, planning, coordination and teamwork among the participants so that they can utilize the learnings in their workplace and work efficiently as a team to achieve their organizational objectives. NCELL Warrior and Achievers were the names of the three sub-groups respectively. The teams were awarded for different category time management and most innovative respectively. The entire program was designed to be fun-filled and enjoyable interspersed with learning opportunities and growth oriented activities which the participants availed to the fullest extent. Participants expressed that the program was a very rewarding experience for the NCELL team as it certainly was a very rewarding and learning one for Borderlands too.
The Borderlands PDP conducted a two days long Team Building Program for KOICA, Young Professionals on September 20 & 21 , 2013 at Borderlands Eco Adventure Resort. They were a total of 21 participants who participated in various team building, fun and relaxing activities and events. The main objective of the program was building trust and support mechanisms, effective communication and coordination, building confidence, team bonding and enjoying each other’s company and knowing each other beyond workplace and to build a sense of togetherness and delegation of work. Besides these, focus was on support mechanisms, strategic planning, problem solving and time management. Series of outdoor activities, initiatives were applied during the program. At the end of each activity, participants were given the opportunity to reflect on their learning experience and relate them to their daily work life. Participants enjoyed white border rafting at BhoteKoshi which ended the program. The entire program also included an educational program focusing on the topic delegation. The program was highly motivational and it clearly explained the delegation, its benefits to both subordinates and managers. Overall the team building program was a success, participative and an exciting one with positive feedback from the participants. We are looking forward for similar programs with KOICA team in future.
Borderlands successfully organized a team retreat for NCELL Customer Relations team at Gokarna Forest Resort on 14th to 15th Sep 2013. There were total 20 participants who took part in various team activities and fun events. The program was built around a series of high impact, motivating activities, and challenges with participants working in small teams engaged in memorable experiences, fun and challenges that highlighted the practices of communicating more effectively, building trust, balancing personal & professional life, support mechanisms, strategic planning and problem solving. The teams were awarded for different category time management & least penalties and most innovative & team work respectively. A musical evening with some time for personal reflection made up for a meaningful retreat. It was really a successful exciting program with positive feedback from the participants. Borderlands had organized series of similar team retreats for NCELL Customer Relations team at Gokarna Forest Resort on last Aug 25-26, 2013 & Aug 31 –Sept 1, 2013.
