
The Borderlands PDP organized a Team Building event for UNICEF Nepal on 2-3 September, 2010 at Gokarna Forest Resort, Kathmandu, Nepal. A total of 145 members of UNICEF Nepal actively participated in the event. The event was focused on building Core values (diversity and inclusion, Integrity and Commitment), Core competencies communication, working with people and drive for results) and Functional Competencies (deciding and initiating, Leading and supervising, Relating and networking, Persuading and expertise and analyzing etc).This program proved highly successful in achieving the objectives set by UNICEF Nepal and the Borderlands team.

The Team Building event was started with some ice breaker activities like human squeeze, Trust fall exercises and Borderlands clap, in addition to the various problem solving and team building games and initiatives. The participants were then divided into three groups and they enthusiastically took part in different educational and fun filled Team Building activities. High Rope Course, Low Rope Course, Spider Web, Leaky Pipe, Robot Tag, Command Task, Electric Fence, Giant Skies, Bird Nest, Clove Hitch, Rescue the trapped people were some of the activities in the event.
The program was concluded with banner presentation, cheer up songs, collective debrief, certificate and with a word of thanks from the Country director of UNICEF Nepal.
The Borderlands PDP organized a day Team Building Program for staffs of Ncell ITC department on August 29, 2010 at Gokarna Village Resort. There were a total of 32 participants from the Engineering department who enthusiastically took part in the day’s event.

The main objective of the program was to further enhance the team work skills of the participants while ensuring that they had fun and enjoyed themselves. Ice breaker activities like Hand squeeze and Human Spiral marked the beginning of the program. Low rope course, leaky pipe, Spider web, Clove hitch and Toxic Waste were some of the games and initiatives that were included with the aims of developing the vital skills of support and team unity.
The program concluded with a word of thanks from the head of the ITC department, a collective debrief from the Borderlands instructors, certificate distribution and group photo.
The staff of UNSECO office in Kathmandu participated in a Team Building Event organized by the Borderlands PDP at Park village, Godavari, Kathmandu. A total of 24 participants took part in the day event which was fun filled yet emphasized on personal development and team spirit. The day program saw an equal and active participation from all UNESCO staffs. Focused on various activities that assisted in harnessing various skills such as communication, team building, unity, trust, team work and leadership skills, the program was highly successful in achieving the objectives set by UNESCO and the borderlands team. An internal session on diversity was also included in the program which involved some visualization activity by the team members.

The team building event comprised of ice breaker exercises like hand squeeze, human spiral in addition to the various problem solving and team building games and initiatives. Spider Web, Magic Carpet, Toxic Waste, Leaky pipe, don’t loose your marble were some of the activities that were included in the program.
The program came to an end after a collective debrief, certificate, T-shirt distribution and group photo.
The Borderlands PDP organized a half day Team Building Program for staff and dealers of Agni Incorporated on July 30, 2010. Organized in Godavari Village Resort in Godavari, The half day program saw active participation from 61 participants.

The main objectives of the program was to further enhance the team work skills, bonding of the participants while ensuring that they had fun and enjoyed themselves. Ice breaking games including Hand squeeze and Human Spiral marked the beginning of the program. The participants were then sub-divided into 6 groups to make the program more effective. Slow marble run, leaky pipe, Spider web, Giant Skies, Magic Carpet and Toxic Waste were some of the games and initiatives that were included in the program.

The program came to an end after a collective debrief, certificate and T-shirt distribution, lap sitting and group photo.

The Borderlands PDP organized a day-long Team Building Event for 67 participants including Mr. Andrew Boner, Country Representative from Population Services International (PSI/Nepal). Organized on July 9th, 2010 at Godavari Village Resort, the program was fun filled and educational as all the games and initiatives were focused on experiential learning. Participants were divided in to seven sub teams. Throughout the day, the participants actively participated in various activities including: leaky pipe, spider’s web, toxic waste, trust exercises, magic carpet etc. Visioning exercises also included in the program. The activities focused on improving various skills of the participants namely: effective communication, team work, trust, unity, leadership, motivation, co-operation and coordination and planning skills among others.

The program came to an end after a collective debrief, certificate and T-shirt distribution, lap sitting and group photo.

27 participants from UN-OCHA actively participated during the program organized by Borderlands PDP on May 18, 2010. In addition to the High Rope activities, the day-long High Rope Course comprised of energizing activities like: T-other side, human spiral and blind-folded walk. UN OCHA’s internal session was also included in the program. The participants participated in four high rope activities namely: Funky Monkey, High Surfing, V-Cool and Giant Ladder.
Through the activities, the OCHA team got an opportunity to further enhance their team work skills. Some of the skills that were further developed through the program were: building trust, support mechanism, communication, coordination, planning etc.
Borderlands Group recently launched the ‘Borderlands/Gokarna Forest Resort- High Rope Course’ to add more value to its programs.

The Borderlands PDP organized a day-long Team Building Program for 11 participants from Ncell’s Marketing Team. Organized on April 21, 2010 at Gokarna Forest Resort, the program was fun filled and educational as all the games and initiatives were focused on experiential learning. Throughout the day, the participants actively participated in various activities including: leaky pipe, spider’s web, toxic waste, trust exercises, magic carpet etc. in addition to some high Rope adventure activities including funky monkey and high surfing. The activities focused on improving various skills of the participants namely: verbal and non-verbal communication, team work, trust, unity, leadership, motivation, co-operation and coordination and planning skills among others.
A Joint Seminar for Finnish and Nepalese Youth Leaders was organized from April 10-11, 2010 at the Borderlands Eco Adventure Resort. The program, organized by Borderlands PDP in cooperation with DEMO Finland, UNDP and Finland’s Ministry for Foreign Affairs, saw participation from 26 youths from Finland and Nepal. The two-day long interaction program entitled ‘Youth perspectives on the advancement of global cooperation for equitable & sustainable development’ comprised of internal sessions on the first day and rafting in the Bhote Koshi River on the second day. Formulating joint recommendations for donors and recipients, formulating joint recommendations for global action etc. were the main highlights of the seminar. In addition, Mr. Megh Ale, Managing Director of the Borderlands Group also took an hour long session on sharing and discussing the impact of climate change on Nepal. On the second day, a joint rafting of Finnish and Nepalese youth leaders was organized to campaign for global action against Climate Change. Overall, the program was a success as the participants actively participated in all the activities and they also said that the program was fruitful and enjoyable.
Everest Bank’s Board of Directors’ meeting was held at Borderlands Eco Adventure Resort on April 2-3, 2010. There were a total of 23 participants including Mr. B. B. Raymajhi (Deputy Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank) and Mr. B. K. Shrestha (Chairman) in addition to CEO, Directors, DGM, AGM etc. The Board of Directors meeting was held on April 2, 2010 at Borderlands Eco Adventure Resort whereas a program was organized at Kailash Mansarovar Hotel to launch Everest Bank’s branch at Tatopani on April 3, 2010. The launching ceremony saw more than 100 participants.
After the launching ceremony, the staff from Everest Bank returned to Borderlands Resort and then headed back to Kathmandu. Overall, the program was considered to be a success.

Leadership Development Program
The Borderlands PDP organized a Leadership Development Program for Grade 9 students of the British School at the Borderlands Eco Adventure Resort from March 15-19, 2010. A total of 20 students and 3 teachers participated in the five-day leadership program. To make the experiential learning more effective, the whole group was further sub-divided into smaller groups. Hike to Dugunagadi Fortress and Gumba, camping, abseiling, the various problem solving games and initiatives, river crossing and the low rope course were some of the highlights of the program.

Raising Group Performance-British School
Overall, the program was considered to be a huge success as the participants actively participated in all the activities and learnt a lot from the games and initiatives. Improved communication (verbal and non-verbal), leadership skills, trust, coordination, support, team work and planning were some of skills that the participants were able to further develop over the program duration.
